Huolimatta siitä, että Mukwendje on värisokea, hänen teokset uhmaavat odotuksia eloisan ja ilmeikkään visuaalisen kielen kautta, joka yhdistää maalauksen, kollaasin ja symboliikan. I am a Namibian visual artist based in Windhoek, working with painting and collage to explore identity, memory, and presence. Raised in Okalongo, a rural village in northern Namibia, I was shaped by oral storytelling traditions that continue to influence my practice.
My work combines acrylic, recycled materials, and found objects to create portraits where fragments become faces—reflecting how identities are built through accumulation and transformation. Being colour-blind has led me to focus on contrast, texture, and composition, using these elements to propose another way of seeing that values depth over appearance. Through my art, I seek to restore visibility to what risks being forgotten, turning beauty into a form of care and resistance. I studied at the College of the Arts (COTA) in Windhoek.
